Aim
To introduce you to some top tips, tools and resources to help you understand, challenge and use performance data effectively.
This course is specifically aimed at local authority Councillors. It focuses on understanding, challenging and using data as a Councillor.
This is a high-level, introductory course aimed at beginners and those new to using data. It is intentionally ‘basic’ in its approach and content. No previous knowledge of data or statistics is required.
Content
Performance data allows you to understand the extent to which you are meeting the authority’s objectives and where you might need to improve. When understood and used effectively, it allows you to make sure needs are being met and that public funds are being used wisely.
As with all data, it’s important, that we have the right data and that we can understand and use it effectively. Our training course offers practical guidance to help build skills and confidence in understanding, challenging and using data.
It is recommended, but not essential, that you attend our ‘Data 101: an introduction to understanding and using data’ training course before this course.
Outcomes
By the end of the course you will understand:
- what performance data is and how to find it
- what you need to consider when working with performance data
- how to use performance data.
